Diagnostic Accuracy of Prostatic Specific Antigen Densityin Different Prostatic Disorders

نویسندگان

چکیده

Objective: To determine the diagnostic accuracy of PSA density in Prostate Cancer, Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) and Prostatitis, taking biopsy as gold standard.
 Study Design: Cross-sectional study.
Place Duration Study: Chemical Pathology Endocrinology Department, Armed Forces Institute (AFIP) collaboration with Histopathology department, AFIP, Urology (AFIU) Radiology (AFIRI) Rawalpindi Pakistan from Mar 2019 to 2020.
Methodology: Prostate-specific antigen was analyzed on a fully automated random-access immunoassay-ADVIA® Centaur XP. volume measured through transrectal imaging technique, prostate obtained by dividing total volume. Specificity sensitivity, along positive predictive negative value both (PSAD), were calculated. In addition, Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve plotted for separately.
Results: Overall, 129 subjects registered study. Out these individuals, 59 (45.7%) had cancer, 52 (40.3 %) benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), 14% other disorders. Total (PSA) sensitivity 75.61% specificity 76% while showed 88% 86% specificity. The area under (AUC) 0.66, that (PSAD) 0.87.
Conclusion: is better non-invasive marker different disorders than antigen. It has.......

Prostate specific antigen staining intensity in prostatic adenocarcinoma correlates with serum prostate specific antigen , Bandar Abbas, Iran

Introduction: Prostatic adenocarcinoma is one the most common malignances and the second cause of death in males due to cancer. Prostate Specific Antigen (PZSA) serum level is the first marker to screen such patients. We aimed in this study, to assess the intensity of prostatic adenocarcinoma tissue staining with PSA staining method. Methods: In this corss-sectional study, prostatic adenocarcin...

Prostatic specific antigen for prostate cancer detection.

Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) has been used for prostate cancer detection since 1994. PSA testing has revolutionized our ability to diagnose, treat, and follow-up patients. In the last two decades, PSA screening has led to a substantial increase in the incidence of prostate cancer (PC). This increased detection caused the incidence of advanced-stage disease to decrease at a dramatic rate, and...

Serum and urinary measurements of prostatic acid phosphatase (PAP) and prostatic specific antigen (PSA) in dogs

Serum and urinary prostatic acid phosphatase (PAP) and prostatic specific antigen (PSA) from 20 dogs were measured. PAP and PSA tests were carried out in authomatized equipment with commercial kits used for humans. Mean PAP serum value was 0.7U/l and urinary 0.1U/l. Mean serum and urinary PSA were 0.005ng/dl and 0.004ng/dl, respectively. In vivo determination of these two biomarkers in dogs is ...

Molecular forms of prostate-specific antigen in malignant and benign prostatic tissue: biochemical and diagnostic implications.

BACKGROUND Patients with prostate cancer (PCa) show a lower ratio of free prostate-specific antigen (fPSA) to total PSA (tPSA) in serum than patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The patterns of the intracellular PSA isoforms in malignant and benign prostatic tissue have been studied as potential molecular reasons for this phenomenon. METHODS Prostatic tissue samples were obtained...

Growth regulation of prostatic stromal cells by prostate-specific antigen.

BACKGROUND Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) is a serine protease that can cleave insulin-like growth factor-binding protein-3 (IGFBP3), thereby decreasing its affinity for insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I). Dissociation of the IGF-I-IGFBP3 complex renders IGF-I available to bind to its receptor and stimulates cellular proliferation. We evaluated the potential for PSA to modulate the effects o...
